Avalanche warning for region Svalbard øst Sunday 04.04.2021
Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger
Published:
Natural avalanches
Strong winds and heavy snowdrift could overload the already weak snowpack. Large avalanches are likely, even some very large avalanches. Cornices are likely to collapse and could trigger avalanches on underlying slopes. Avoid all avalanche terrain and run-out zones.
Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.
Mountain weather
Sunday 4. April 2021
15 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from northeast. -18 °C to -13 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.
Advice
The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.
Avalanche risk assessment
We provide daily avalanche forecast in the period between 1st of December until 31st of May. Please remember that the forecast is intended as an aid and not the absolute truth.
